FALL FOOD DRIVE COMES AT RIGHT TIME FOR LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES
The Fall Food Drive at Monocacy Manor proved especially timely this year, as it came amid the longest government shutdown in our nation’s history. So many of you came through to help us help our neighbors in need by donating non-perishable food and household items, as well as cash and grocery gift cards to ease the burden experienced by far too many local families.
Sisters M. Virginelle Makos and Regina Ann Rokosny — assisted by associates, friends and a caring student volunteer from Notre Dame High School — gathered a truckload of food and more than $750 during the drive held on October 18.
The haul was divided among the food pantries at SS. Simon & Jude Parish and Cay Calgon Life House, two Bethlehem-area non-profits that have been greatly impacted by federal cutbacks. Coordinators at both sites were greatly appreciative of the donations, especially as their food pantry shelves have been depleted in recent weeks.
We are thankful to all of our donors — whether you contributed in person or online — for your generosity and for helping our Sisters to help those in need. May God bless you.
