Mount Assisi Academy
Digital Museum
As we planned for the 2023 Mount Assisi Academy all-class reunion back in October 2023, we put out a call out to alums asking that they lend to us any keepsakes or memorabilia they still had — all to be part of a special heritage display planned for that day. You did not disappoint! We were blessed to receive so many wonderful items to include in the display, which filled the original convent chapel and generated much enthusiasm for the reunion event. Before the display was disassembled and the memorabilia returned to alums in the weeks following the event, each item was photographed to be shared with you here in a Mount Assisi Academy ‘Digital Museum.’

This yearbook was one of the few editions that was not in the Sisters’ archives. However, in 2023, we found this copy for sale on eBay. Even though it is missing its cover, this edition is significant because it marks the 25th anniversary of the Sisters settling in the United States. The features within are included in both English and Slovak.

Basketball was the sole sport until the 1970s, when MAA formed a girls volleyball team. Success came quickly, as the team won a championship in 1976.

LISTEN: Final Commencement Address
Take a trip down Memory Lane with Sister Magdalene Lovrich, 1939 graduate and longtime principal of Mount Assisi Academy, as she delivers the final commencement address before the last graduating class in 1978. This audio was “rescued” from an aging cassette tape in the Sisters’ archives. Therefore, the nostalgia greatly outshines the sound quality.
WATCH: THE MAGNIFICAT
In this video from our October 2023 Welcome Home all-class reunion, 1970 graduate Patricia Moran beautifully performs The Magnificat before her fellow alums.
