Sister Ann Marie Yenca, OSF

Sister Ann Marie (Catherine) Yenca died on May 15, 2026, in Villa Clare at Monocacy Manor Convent in Bethlehem, Pa. She was 90 and in her 72nd year of religious profession.
Sister entered the community from Saints Cyril & Methodius Parish in Bethlehem in 1952 and professed first vows in 1953 at Mount Assisi Convent Chapel in Pittsburgh, Pa. She earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Mount Mercy College (now Carlow University), and a master’s degree in guidance counseling from Seton Hall University.
Sister Ann Marie taught and served as principal in elementary schools in the dioceses of Allentown, Pittsburgh and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, and in the Newark and Paterson dioceses in New Jersey. She also served for more than a decade in parish ministry in the diocese of Springfield, Mass.
Later, Sister spent several years in hospitality ministry at the congregation’s generalate in Rome. After returning to Monocacy Manor in 2026, Sister Ann Marie was engaged in community service and, for the past several years, was a faithful participant in the community’s prayer ministry.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary (Hendrichovsky) Yenca, and her siblings — William, George, Anna Timko and Mary Stofanak. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and her religious community.
Services will be held at Monocacy Manor, 395 Bridle Path Road, Bethlehem, Pa. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, and at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 21. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel at Monocacy Manor. Arrangements have been made by Connell Funeral Home.
