Pittsburgh-Area Spring Food Drive

  • Mt. Assisi Place 934 Forest Avenue Pittsburgh PA 15202 United States (map)

Sisters Bernadine Marie Stemnock and Anece Salay add some last-minute items to the haul of donated food during our 2023 food drive in Pittsburgh.

As food insecurity remains a very real challenge for so many in our region, our Sisters in the Pittsburgh area are hosting a Spring Food Drive from May 1 to 15, with all donations going to Light of Life Rescue Mission’s Food Pantry on the North Side. Please join us in helping our neighbors in need.

We are collecting non-perishable food, toiletries, grocery gift cards, and monetary donations. There are several ways to participate:

Main Drop-Off Location: Donations may be dropped off at Mt. Assisi Place (formerly Mount Assisi Convent) from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily May 1-15. Collection boxes will be set up right inside the main entrance for food and toiletry items. Gift cards and monetary donations (cash and checks payable to ‘School Sisters of St. Francis’) should be sealed in an envelope and handed directly to the receptionist on duty.

Secondary Drop-Off Location: Donations also may be brought to our Provincial Office, located at 4900 Perry Highway, Suite 201, Pittsburgh PA 15229 (the former Hamilton-Martin School Building in Ross). Donation times are limited to regular business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday). Parking is limited, so please pull along the curb and use your blinkers while coming inside.

Mail-In Option: Monetary donations and gift cards can be sent to our Provincial Office until May 17. Checks should be made payable to ‘School Sisters of St. Francis.’ Please indicate “food drive” in the memo line.
