Thank you for visiting the online home of the School Sisters of St. Francis, U.S. Province. Our Pioneer Sisters came to the United States in 1913 to bring education and spirituality to immigrant families. In our 103 years of service, we have served in schools, churches, hospitals and other institutions. And we continue to do so today with our active ministries in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Texas, Rome and South Africa.
The Charism of the School Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis, rooted in the Franciscan penitential tradition of Gospel living, is intimate union with God in the midst of apostolic service. In the spirit of Franciscan poverty expressed in the simplicity and humble dedication of our communal life, we minister through Christian formation, education, and development of the total person. Responding to the signs of the times and to the needs of the Church we, as faithful servants of the Church, joyfully minister to the poor and otherwise needy.
As our charism mandates, the School Sisters of St. Francis continue to adapt to the needs of the times in our mission to serve the poor and otherwise needy -- whether it be in education, health care, religous education, social work or community service. You make it happen every day, empowering us to serve God as instruments of his peace. We are blessed by our generous donors and friends who help to make our important ministries possible.
